The man of our own nation

Róisín Darby, age 15

He was one man.
He had three initials.

He brought out every radio in the country,
He brought tales of life in the land of freedom,
He brought us his energy and hope for the future.

He gave us his word that he would never forget us,
He gave us a kind wave and a bright smile,
He gave us his promise that the children of our nation
would be well cared for in the land of the free.

He closed every Irish street,
He spoke to us amiably,
He tread softly on his native soil,
And loved his native home.

He was one man.
He had three initials.
