People from every household in the Galbally/Kereight/ Barmoney/Raheenahoone/Tomfarney/Ballyhogue area of mid-county Wexford tried to get to Wexford town and New Ross town for a glimpse of JFK. Tom Finn of Barmoney,Adamstown succeeded in meeting him and in getting a handshake from President Kennedy. It created a huge sensation across the area. Tom became a celebrity throughout the region as everybody wanted to shake his hand – the hand that shook the hand of President Kennedy.
