Saying Goodbye
Tom Delaney
The day President Kennedy left Ireland I drove from Enniskerry Co Wicklow with my sisters Kathleen and Margaret to see him off. I remember his speech in which he talked about the welcome he received from the people of Ireland and the fine speech by the Mayor of Limerick who spoke on that day, and as she invited him to return some day, he said that he would return again to “This green misty ilse”, as we all know he never made it.
