JFK Tomatoes!

Miryam Harris

I was 5 yrs old at the time of JFJs visit to Dublin. My Mums sister (my godmother) lived just off the Drumcondra Road. My Mum brought my bothers and I to see JFKs cavalcade pass from the airport. We were joined by my aunt and cousins. I have a vivid memory of sitting on a wall and seeing JFK and Jackie passing in their open topped car and them waving to all. A neighbour of my aunts had fruit and tomatoes but when it came to sharing with us I was given a tomatoe to eat like an apple. It was the funniest thing I had ever seen to eat a tomatoe like an apple or a pear!! What a funny memory for me!!
