Flag from Phoenix Park
Robert Harrold
When I was 6 years old, JFK visited the US Embassy in Phoenix Park; I went with my mother and brother, who was 8 at the time. There was huge crowds waiting and I couldn’t see anything. After an hour and half of waiting, I was lifted by a member of the public and had a good view. I remembered Kennedy as “the person on the news” who was tanned and good looking. The flag is the one that I waived while in the crowd, though I do not remember how I got it. I remember reading later how impressed JFK was with Phoenix Park.
