Fortune smiled on me while still a teenager I was included in an invitation my parents received to a reception for JFK at Aras an Uchtarain.It was a wonderful experience. The party consisted of Sean and Nan Nunan (retired from the diplomatic service Sean had served in Washington as Irish Ambassador  The sun shone, the food was superb and the finery to my young eyes to die for! Yes,there was that infemous clamour to the front when the man of the moment arrived. Needless to mention our diplomatic party remained composed!
