Retired Brigadier General Richard Heaslip speaks about the impact the visit of an American President visiting Ireland had on the country.
Richard Heaslip was one of “Kennedy’s Cadets”, who performed in the funeral ceremony of President John F. Kennedy at Arlington Cemetery, Washington D.C. in November 1963.
The Cadets were asked to perform their routine at the funeral by Jacqueline Kennedy, who said that her husband had remarked to her on her return from Ireland in June of ’63 how impressed he had been by them.
